The Hypertension Initiative is a national project dedicated to unifying and modernizing the management of hypertensive patients.
The project aims to integrate data from multiple databases and promote interdisciplinary collaboration between medical specialties such as:
The main goal is to optimize the therapeutic response of hypertensive patients through a collaborative and data-driven approach.
A concrete outcome of the project will be the development of a bilingual web platform (Romanian/English), accessible upon justified request.
Improving the health of the Romanian population by:
The teams involved will bring together doctors, statisticians, computer scientists, sociologists, and psychologists—doctoral students and researchers—to explore the medical, ethical, and psychosocial dimensions of hypertension.
The project will generate the scientific basis for:
Using advanced machine learning algorithms, the platform will identify distinct profiles of hypertensive patients to enable personalized treatment—with a focus on vulnerable groups:
Elderly with hypertension
Patients with diabetes and hypertension
Develop a psycho-cardiovascular index applicable in personalized screening and medical practice.
Hypertensive patients with other comorbidities (heart failure, neurocognitive disorder etc.)
Special subpopulations of hypertensive patients (pregnant women with hypertension, patients from disadvantaged backgrounds, Roma patients) with arterial hypertension
Patients with treatment-resistant hypertension
AI will also support screening, diagnosis, and monitoring of high-risk patients, such as those who are noncompliant, have multiple cardiovascular or neurological complications, or are on dialysis.
She has over 35 years of experience in Romanian and international cardiology. She has published over 500 scientific papers and articles in international journals and specialist books, both in Romania and abroad.
The project aims to disseminate and scientifically exploit the results by:
Creating predictive models for treatment personalization;
Training medical staff to combat therapeutic inertia;
General population and patient education on hypertension;
Development of the “Hypertensive Patient Guide”;
Setting up national and international registers;
Publishing scientific articles and doctoral theses;
Organization of national and international conferences and workshops.
The Hypertension Initiative aims to become a national model of collaboration between research, medical practice, and digital innovation, directly contributing to reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease in Romania.
